After four albums fronting swinging band with the F-Holes (The F-Holes 2009, Angel In The Corner 2011, Red Hot 2012), one with Little Miss Higgins (the Juno nominated Bison Ranch Recording Sessions produced by Alexandre and Higgins, 2013) and one solo album (Strange New World 2015), Patrick Alexandre will be featuring his newest material a CD release recorded to tape in an old stone barn turned recording studio south of Nanaimo.

"In the Blood" is a comprehensive album inspired by Alexandre's road life, historic and current events that shape our world, and his Metis heritage, which dates back to the Red River Rebellion. Much of the album was written in complete solitude in an abandoned candy factory in the gritty North end of Winnipeg. You can hear the influence of his surroundings on songs like "One more," "Boneyard," and "Hold on me."

"It's the perfect spot to find some real blues, right here in Winnipeg" he says of the building, "between systematic problems with poverty, racism, and addiction right outside the window, and the ghosts spooking the tunes right out of me from inside the building... inspiration was never far away."

Backed by two of Winnipegs finest, Dwayne Dueck (guitar) and Jeffrey Laird (drums), Patrick swings seamlessly from guitar to piano, to harmonica, and of course, back to his native instrument, the upright bass. Powered by his unending energy and roaring voice, his animated live performances are always entertaining and they maintain his reputation as one of the hardest working, and intense performers around.

I could record the album on a computer, in some ways its faster. So is driving a car down a horse trailÂ…but youll probably miss something.
