PECHA KUCHA PENTICTON Speaker Series
JUNE 8/2017 at Cannery Brewing
Do-it-your-selfers are a special breed; self-reliant, and determined. DIY is more than people doing their own renos. They make sodas and take on Dragons, they tilt at grist mills and sometimes they make history.
Self-Made: The Art of DIY, our theme for the next Pecha Kucha Penticton speaker series, gathers nine-plus speakers who have rolled up their sleeves to cobble and complete their own visions in fields ranging from reconciliation to car sharing. Presenters include soft-drink revolutionary Jason Cox of The Peoples Soda Co., who faced down Dragons Den investors last March, and Chris Mathieson, operator of the Grist Mill in Keremeos. Japanese for chit-chat, Pecha Kucha originated in Tokyo in 2003 and has since grown into an international speaker series based on 20 images x 20 seconds format. The popular not-for-profit series brings together a diverse range of Okanagan thinkers and doers.
