Finding Art in Your HeArt Exhibition opening Thursday
The Finding Art in Your HeArt Exhibition will be opening this Thursday at the Shatford Centre. The call to artists encouraged them to reach into their souls, and create a true expression of themselves and with 63 original pieces from the Okanagan's creative community, the halls of the Shatford have a palpable sense of love.
Ranging with pieces from Encaustic art, also known as hot wax painting, to mixed media and collage, the special feeling surrounding this exhibition becomes very clear as you walk through the halls and examine each piece individually. As you look through the artists eyes and into each canvas or frame, a story begins to unfold giving insight into their lives, and into their hearts. From a more whimsical collage of love entitled "Resilient Transition," a multimedia collaboration with portions by Evelyn Travis, Charlie Parcher, and Brandon McKay, to a large cedar wood paneled canvas used underneath acrylics and a creative use of a Métis sash, the range of vision from piece to piece is refreshing, and yet the theme radiates from them all. Each of this exhibitions artists took Marc Chagall's quote and proved it true as he once said, "If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing."
Opening reception will take place on Thursday March 9th at 7 pm at the Shatford Centre, admission by donation. Snacks and drinks will be provided for you while you meet the artists and their hearts in person. Exhibition runs until June 15th.
